Setting Essential Options

Each Office program contains hundreds of options that you can set to customize the program's appearance and behavior. In this section, we'll look at settings that are common to several (or all) of the programs and that make a big difference in the way that the programs behave. We'll look at some of the most important program-specific settings in the chapters that cover the individual programs.

Opening the Options dialog box

Open the Options dialog box for the program you want to configure. With the program running, click the File tab to open Backstage view, and the click the Options button to display the Options dialog box.
