The devil may be in the details, but presentation is everything. Raw data underlies everything you do in Excel, but human eyes glaze as they pore over row after row, column after column, and sheet after sheet of numbers and text.

In every business meeting where results are discussed, both in real life and on TV or in the movies, the results are shown in charts: Business is bad and a jagged line moves down and to the right; business is good and the line climbs up and to the right; candidate Smith is leading candidate Jones 45 percent to 30 percent with 25 percent undecided, and you see a pie chart.
