8.6. Viewing Data from External Sources in Excel Using a Data Connection

In all the Excel examples so far, the data for the cells have been entered directly into the cells of the worksheets. However, you can create Excel worksheets to display and manipulate data from external data sources. By external data sources, I am primarily referring to the use of databases such as Access and SQL Server. However, you can connect to many other data sources as well.

For this section, let's use the PUBS database for SQL Server 2005.
