Our Motivation: Stories of Appreciation and Dedication

In 1947, our company was in the bad situation of having to borrow money to maintain production. During that time, the bank decided that Toyota had too many workers and made the company lay off some employees. This was a low point in company history that caused a shift in thinking by the executives. They vowed at that time that no outside factors would ever play a role again in the decisions made by the company.
