- active recruitment
The process of actively pursuing new website members through advertising banners, email campaigns, or other means (versus passive recruitment, where members find the website on their own).
- admin panel
Software that allows staff to access and manage website member accounts and content.
- avatar
An image or figure that represents a specific website member and becomes his or her online identity in a specific community. The avatar often appears next to content published by the member with whom it’s associated. In communities that allow live chat, members can often make their avatars move on the screen like characters in a video game.
