Perusing and Updating ITO Alarms

ITO is appropriate for managing a reasonably stable group of, say, a few dozen NNM systems. ITO can be scripted to monitor special NNM problem scenarios. The logs generated by this monitoring should be reviewed operationally. A short list of recommendations for ITO monitoring follows:

  • collection station to management station communications

  • spinning ovw sessions or other X-Windows clients

  • syslogd should be active

  • all NNM daemons should be active (ovstatus)

As you gain operational experience and solve NNM problems, additional checks will be found worthy of automation with ITO.
