Testing an NNM Patch

Each day you probably want to schedule a visit to the HP OpenView website at http://www.openview.hp.com/ to see if any new patches are available for downloading. Hopefully, you don’t have to spend time each day to address a new NNM patch.

There are at least two approaches to patch management. The conservative approach delays them for some time interval, perhaps forever:

“If it’s not broken don’t fix it.”

The aggressive approach tests and installs all patches as they become available:

“Fix it before it breaks.”

The conservative approach tells you to review each patch for appropriateness to your site. If the patch does not address any problems you and your users experience, then set it aside for later.
