Testing Third-Party Applications

With over forty HP OpenView products on the market, plus hundreds of third-party applications available, there is a good chance that your NNM systems also host a few of them. They will generally install themselves in such a way as to integrate into NNM more or less seamlessly.

When testing these applications for functionality, also check that:

  • the proper icons are loaded

  • new device attributes and properties are loaded

  • any MIBs are properly installed and loaded

  • new ovw application menu items appear for the appropriate users

  • new daemons can be started and stopped with ovstart and ovstop

  • new ports are documented in /etc/services

  • disk space is still available after the installation

  • the application data disk storage requirements ...
