Introduction

Using the NNM event logs is a first step in troubleshooting NNM. Logs at both management and collection stations should be checked to help isolate the scope of any problems.

Consulting the NNM map is another troubleshooting technique. All NNM systems are on the map, and events and information about devices on the same subnet as the NNM system may provide additional information useful in troubleshooting.

Device names may change unexpectedly in the configuration alarms category. This often points to changes in DNS.

Network topology autolayout errors may be encountered. Sometimes the IP-centric nature of the map hierarchy prevents NNM from laying out network electronics where multiple logical subnets exist on a single broadcast domain. ...
