Let’s review how a map is opened in read-only mode. First, NNM maps become read-only when the user specifies the following ovw command line option:
ovw -ro -map map_name
Second, if map permissions (use ovwls to view permissions and ovwperms to change them) prevent a user from obtaining read/write access, the map is also opened in read-only mode. Third, once a map is opened in read/write mode, additional copies of the map can only be opened in read-only mode. Fourth, a map opened with the web browser interface is always read-only.
