Leading Operational Improvement

Given a compelling case for change, the challenge is to proactively lead successful major improvements in operational performance and that calls for managing change. The historical odds of success has hovered around 30% in successfully leading major change efforts. This has little to do with a deficit in improvement methods, tools, or even management advice. There are ample improvement methods—the issue is how these improvements are deployed. Nor is there a deficit of increasingly agile technology; again, the issue is one of selection and how the selected technology is deployed. There is also ample management advice available, and the challenge is one of implementation leadership.
