11.8.1 SOI Transistor Description
Silicon photonics is fundamentally interesting due to the ability to leverage the
massive investment in CMOS-processing infrastructure and proce sses develop-
ment. However, it is far too easy to create a silicon photonics device that is
not realizable using these standard processes. Here, we provide a brief descrip-
