35 are terminated with an integrated NiCr thin-film resistor placed on the BCB
layer with vias to the metal-ground plane. The lateral device layout consists of five
cascaded transmission line segments where two are active (Z 22 ) and three are
passive transmission lines (Z 75 ) in parallel with passive optical waveguides.
The total lateral active length of the two active segments is about 160 mm in the
example in Figure 7.12, and the two active segments have the same length. The
contact pads for the top electrode were designed for probed measurements with a
width of 20 mm to minimize capacitive parasitics.
