~ 1. To compare the cavity solitons with the periodic solutions leading to patterns,
we show in Figure 14.15 the branches for both homogeneous (spatially uniform) solu-
tions and the two-dimensional cavity solitons. The cavity-soliton branch appears at a
subcritical bifurcation point.
Hence, a cavity soliton can be interpreted as a single spot
of the hexagonal pattern.
Stability of cavity solitons is a crucial issue and should be examined carefully. ...
