Abstract

In the present chapter, modeling of a single and multijunction solar cell with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) utilizing intelligent fuzzy logic algorithm (FLA) for maximum productivity is proposed. The circuit model of the single/ multijunction solar cell considers the scale of every subcell. It considers the temperature changes effect on energy gap of every subcell. The solar cells behaviors are also analyzed through the fill factor value. The MPPT scheme is also implemented with perturb and observe method (P&O) and FLA. This proposed FLA-based MPPT method is also matched with traditional, and P&O-based MPPT method in the MATLAB software. This FLA technique gives ameliorated dynamic performance to pursue the MPPT. Additionally, it has been found that the FLA gives better dynamic response characteristics than other techniques, and also it improves the efficiency of the solar photovoltaic (PV) cell.
