4Fake News Detection: Restricting Spreading of Misinformation Using Machine Learning

Abstract

Everyone now relies on several web sources for news in our day of pervasive internet use. Rapid usage of social media has increased the circulation of bogus news among large number of people in short span of time. The propagation of incorrect information has extensive effects, the formation of slanted opinions, which influences of election results in favor of particular political party or leaders. In addition to it, people spam and utilize click-bait titles from news articles to generate income through advertisements. With the use of principles from artificial intelligence (AI), natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning (ML), we seek to perform operations to categorize various news articles binarily, that are available online. We want the user to give the option to label news as bogus or false news. Classification whether the news is bogus or not, it is very important as to stop misleading people, as news is one of the prime factor as, The newspaper or news websites are very effective medium for providing information about our country, world, sports, economy etc., it provides us a vast amount of knowledge.
