APEX Applications: Concepts and Building Blocks
The Oracle Application Express environment—both the APEX IDE and the APEX applications themselves—have hierarchical characteristics. These are manifested in a series of logical containers, with hints to the real world, that contain and depend on each other in a hierarchical manner. In this chapter, we’ll start at the top and review these containers, the concepts behind them, their role in the big picture of developing an APEX application, and how you create them. Then you’ll see how to fill them according to your needs with the various prebuilt APEX building blocks.
