Best Practices for EMC Clariion and ASM

This section describes how to design and configure an EMC Clariion storage array that is to be used in an ASM environment.

To review, an ASM diskgroup consists of ASM disks, and an ASM disk maps to a Clariion logical unit number (LUN), which is properly formatted as a usable disk device under the server operating system (OS). As a best practice, format the host disk device (for example, using fdisk) and create only one disk device partition that consumes all the usable space on that disk device.
