Providing a translation for a report is an important part of the report layout design in cases of foreign customers, foreign providers, or any other document exchange with a foreign partner. It is important in countries using English language too.

This chapter proposes a walkthrough for all the translation techniques that BI Publisher offers, including:

  • Translation file
  • Step by step translations
  • Locale selection logic

Translation file

The translation file, named XLIFF, is generated either inside BI Publisher or from MS Word using the Template Builder add-on for Word.
