In this chapter, you will see an overview of the use of tablespaces, along with the commands needed to create and alter tablespaces. The commands needed to create and maintain tablespaces require you to have database administrator privileges. The creation and maintenance of tablespaces is described in greater detail in Chapter 46. The goals of this chapter are to introduce the concepts, review new features, and provide developers with the information needed to make informed design decisions relative to their usage of tablespaces.
