The new ASM tools, such as the ASM command-line interface and the ASM file transfer utilities, emulate the UNIX environment within the ASM file system. Even though ASMCMD internally uses the SQL*Plus interface to query the ASM instance, it greatly helps system administrators and storage administrators because it provides the look and feel of a UNIX shell interface.

ASM Configuration Assistant is a GUI tool, introduced in Oracle 11g, that can be used to install and configure an ASM instance, disk groups, volumes, and ACFS.
