Developing Applications for Oracle RAC
You can use Oracle Real Application Clusters to scale most database applications—from custom applications to commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications. An application that runs in a single-instance environment can be directly ported to the Oracle RAC platform without needing any major architecture or code changes when it is designed optimally, and almost all packaged applications can be ported to Oracle RAC when the scalability or availability of the application is in question.
