Oracle.connect(databaseURL,
        username,
        password
        [, autocommit];

Establishes a connection to an Oracle database.

Variables

databaseURL

Takes the form of:

                                 driver_name@database_location

where driver_name is jdbc:oracle:driver and driver is one of the following:

  • thin for the JDBC thin driver

  • oci (Oracle9i), oci8 (Oracle8i), or oci7 (Oracle7) OCI JDBC driver

The database_location can be specified as:

                                 host_name:port:database_SID

for the JDBC thin driver or as:

(description=(address=(host=host_name)(protocol=tcp)(port=port))
(connect_data=(sid=database_SID)))

for either type of JDBC drive. The entire databaseURL is enclosed in double quotes.

username

Name of the user, enclosed in double quotes.

password

User’s password, enclosed in double quotes.

autocommit

Optional Boolean value indicating whether autocommit is on for SQL statements for this connection.
