Parameters
- FORCE
Forces the instance to start. If the instance is currently running, then FORCE will cause the equivalent of a SHUTDOWN ABORT to be done first; the instance will then be restarted.

- PFILE =_filename

Starts the database in OPEN MIGRATE mode with intialization parameters set to allow upgrade or downgrade scripts to be run. Use this option only with a new version of the server.
- QUIET
Starts the instance without displaying information about memory allocation within the System Global Area.
- MOUNT [ dbname ]
Causes the database to be mounted but not opened.
- [ dbname ]
Optionally specifies a database name to override the DB_NAME initialization parameter.
- OPEN [ open_options ] [ dbname ]
Causes the database to be mounted and then opened for normal operation.
- NOMOUNT
Starts the instance without mounting the database.
