Enterprise Manager Administration

The primary purpose of Enterprise Manager is to perform and monitor administrative tasks on an Oracle database. Enterprise Manager includes a number of wizards to help you manage a database. Enterprise Manager can provide reports on a database, monitor changes to the database, or search for database objects.

Enterprise Manager can define multiple administrative users. For each user, you can specify a variety of attributes, including what nodes, schemas, or objects they can access and manage and how and when to notify them with alerts.

Enterprise Manager comes with a standard set of reports, but you can also define your own custom reports. Reports can be accessed from an automatically created and maintained web site.

You can access the functionality of Recovery Manager (RMAN, covered in Chapter 15) through Enterprise Manager via property sheets and the Backup and Recovery Wizards.
