Name

FAST_START_IO_TARGET

Synopsis

Value: 0 | 1000-all buffers in the cache

Default: all buffers in the cache Dynamic: ALTER SYSTEM

Specifies the number of buffer I/O operations expected to be used during crash or instance recovery. Lower values cause the DB writer process to write dirty buffers to disk more often in order to keep buffer I/O at recovery within the target set, at the expense of overall performance. 0 disables fast-start checkpointing. New with Oracle8i and available only with Enterprise Edition.

With Oracle9i, Oracle recommends that you use FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET instead of this parameter.
