OS_ROLES

Synopsis

Value: TRUE | FALSE

Default: FALSE

Specifies whether Oracle allows the operating system to identify the username’s roles. If the value is TRUE, when a user attempts to create a session, the username’s security domain is initialized using the roles identified by the operating system. In addition, if TRUE, the operating system completely manages the role grants for all database usernames. Any revokes of roles granted by the operating system are ignored, and any previously granted roles are ignored. If the value is FALSE, roles are identified and managed by the database.
