RELEASE CHANNEL

Synopsis

RELEASE CHANNEL [']channel_id['];

Releases a channel that has been allocated for I/O purposes. Once allocated, channels remain open until the job has finished execution or until they have specifically been released. You can use this command to release a specified channel while RMAN maintains a connection to the target database. For Oracle8i, you must execute this command from within the RUN command.

Using this command without specifying a channel_id releases the maintenance channel created with the ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE command.

Common keywords and clauses: channel_id.
