Executes a series of commands. With Oracle8i, most commands can only be executed within the punctuation (the braces, or {} characters) following the RUN command. In many cases, that requirement has been removed with Oracle9i. However, even with Oracle9i, a few commands still must be executed from within the braces of RUN:

ALLOCATE CHANNEL
EXECUTE SCRIPT
REPLICATE
SWITCH
