1. Installing Oracle Solaris 11
The installation process for Oracle Solaris 11 consists of three phases: system preparation and configuration, system installation, and post-installation tasks such as setting up printers, users, and networking. This chapter describes how to install the operating system (OS) on the SPARC and x86-based hardware platforms using the Live Media and text installers. I’ll begin this chapter describing how to perform a new installation, and later I’ll describe the process of upgrading from a previous version of Oracle Solaris.
The last section of this chapter will describe how to log in after the software is installed and verify the system and storage configuration.
