This chapter introduced you to SQL*Plus and various database objects. SQL*Plus is a tool that always comes with the Oracle database. This book will use this tool for all of its examples. However, there are third-party tools that may help you write SQL and view the results more effectively. One of these tools is TOAD, which Quest software sells. A large number of my coworkers prefer this tool to SQL*Plus. I still prefer to use SQL*Plus because I am old school. Quest allows individuals to download the product as a trial and as freeware.
