Chapter 11. Using SQL*Plus as a Report-Writing Tool

SQL*Plus has limited report-writing capabilities. It was Oracle’s original report-writing tool, and it has retained its report-writing capabilities. The technology is reminiscent of the report-writing technology used in the mid-1980s. There are many other tools that can be used to create Oracle reports, but they may not be available to you. If they are not, you can always use the tools explained in this chapter to make reports. Many DBAs and analysts use SQL*Plus to make quick, simple reports. This feature is especially useful for making DBA-type reports such as lists of user accounts, performance statistics, or user objects.
