Oracle Discoverer 4.0: The OLAP Tool of Choice

In the not too distant past, information was furnished to managers by using combinations of paper and online reports. A manager who was interested in drilling down to the detail would need multiple reports. Each level of detail required a separate report. It’s needless to say that this was cumbersome for management, and the reports were seldom used.

In the last several years, a new type of tool has emerged, one that is used for online analysis. Several vendors have developed these tools, but Oracle’s is the one that I prefer: Discoverer 4.0. An evaluation copy can be downloaded from the Oracle Web site (www.oracle.com). Why is this my tool of choice?
