Deploying a WebCenter Portal Application

Deploying a WebCenter Portal application is quiet easy because we can make use of JDeveloper. From within JDeveloper, you can create a connection to your WebLogic server and deploy the application directly to it.

It is even better to deploy the application from within JDeveloper than deploying it by using the WebLogic console. As a WebCenter Portal application not only contains an EAR file as you expect, but it also contains some MAR (metadata archive) files. When you deploy from JDeveloper these MAR files are also deployed to the application server. When you deploy manually by using the console, you will also have to deploy the MAR files manually.
