PURPOSE OF THE CHAPTER

The first cry of a baby denotes its joining a group—the family. From then, we join and quit groups throughout our lives—children’s groups, teenage groups, internet groups, work groups, product groups, innovation groups, focus groups, problem-solving groups, social groups, and finally geriatric groups. Groups are the quintessence of modern life; more so, in an organisational context. It defines the success of the individual and the organisation. Learning about groups is learning about the mechanics of successful living.
