about changing the norms.
Sometimes, the conformity to norms is dependent upon the individual’s status within
the group. Some members of the group who have a higher status when compared to
the other members of the group are given the leverage to deviate.
Compliance with the norms results in an accepted level of rewards; similarly, non-
compliance results in punishment.
