2. Set Up Mavericks

Mavericks is available only as a download from the Mac App Store. This approach is convenient—you can upgrade in the middle of the night in your pajamas—but is also quite a change from the past, when you could insert a DVD and update from there.

Most of the information in this chapter is focused on upgrading from Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard (which are required for Mavericks).
