17. Dashboard

Dashboard is a feature of OS X that gives you instant access to simple applications called widgets. Widgets work with other applications such as iTunes, Calendar, and Contacts to provide you with quick access to the most commonly used features. They also work with the Internet to get up-to-date information such as stock quotes, weather, and business listings.

OS X comes with a bunch of widgets, all of which are accessible from the widget browser that you can display onscreen. Click a widget to open and use it. Leave it open so it’s automatically available the next time you open Dashboard.
