Summary

This chapter discussed how OSPF as an IGP routing protocol interacts with other protocols. The most widely used protocol is BGP, which connects many networks together and to the Internet. The use of the MPLS is increasing; the many problems affiliated with standard IP routing that MPLS addresses and resolves was discussed. However, there is reliance on the part of both of these protocols on OSPF; therefore, ensuring the effective operation and design of OSPF is a crucial piece of any network.
