Right now, AI is being leveraged across the world as a force for positive societal change, life‐saving medical enhancements, reusable and sustainable energy, and securing the food supply chain. I show you in this chapter the ways in which AI is a force for good, a force for positive change, and a force that can save humanity and our planet.

Our global issues are complex, and AI provides us with a valuable tool to augment human efforts to come up with solutions to vexing problems. These challenges are new and old and they have the potential to touch every single one of our lives. In the pages to come, you will read about at least one, likely multiple, challenges you face in your life and how AI can be used to help us all conquer them.

We take for granted the massive work and incredibly complex and intertwined systems it takes for a city to function at all, let alone in the most efficient and citizen‐friendly ways possible.
