MAKING CHANGE

OUR STUDY FOUND that many women use their agency at work to fulfill their commitment to social change in their communities. They also have found ways to engage the corporate hierarchy in the name of social equity within their own companies. We discussed earlier the importance many of the black women placed on giving back to their communities. Do white women, as well, have a similar need to change perceived racial and gender injustice in their companies? We found profound differences between black and white women on this score and explored the reasons for these differences.1
