What I loved about running the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon for 13 years was that nothing was ever the same. When the water level was high, the rapids changed. When the water level was low, the rapids changed. If I messed up running a rapid one week, I knew I would have a chance to get it right the next.
The water, the weather, the people, the flora and fauna—everything changed, and each day had something new to offer—glimpses into self and life lessons that are enduring.
