While it sounds great to think that you might be able to eat foods like pie or chocolate with no effect on your blood sugar, it’s not really possible. However, terms like sugar free or no sugar added on labels can add to the confusion of so-called “diabetic” or “dietetic” foods. And depending on the food, the sugar-free version may not be any better for diabetes control than the original version as long as you still keep track of your carbohydrate intake.
