15.5.2 Soot Volume Fractions in Co-Flow
Oxygen-Enriched Flames
In this section, we show that soot formation in diffu-
sion ames can be signicantly altered by the ame
structure. The ame structure can be changed by
varying the oxygen content in the oxidizer stream, gas
velocity or residence time, pressure at which the ame
operates, or the fuel composition. Also the geometry
in which the fuel and oxidizer are introduced into a
combustion reactor is very important for soot par-
ticle formation and this will be discussed in the next
