stream equipment as the gases are cooled. Application
of oxygen combustion burners to a SAR furnace with
its highly corrosive atmosphere posed particular prob-

cient mixing occurs and that kinetics of the various
decomposition reactions are not adversely affected by
the use of pure oxygen.
