combustion chamber. The objective of a combustion
process is to transfer the chemical energy contained in
the fuel to the load, or in some cases to the combustion
chamber. The more thermally efcient the combus-
tion process, the more heat that is transferred from the
combustion products to the load and to the combus-
tion chamber. Therefore, the gas temperature in the
exhaust stack is desirably much lower than in the ame
in a thermally efcient heating process. The composi-
tion of the combustion products then changes with gas
temperature.
