Get to Know the Brushes
Now it's time to have some fun! Having whet your appetite with the visual overview of the Brush Guide, we're going to start off with something very simple: exploring the incredible diversity of marks you can make using the myriad of brush variants available at your fingertips.
If you're beginning from scratch, open a new canvas:
1 Choose File > New or keyboard shortcut Cmd-N (Mac)/Ctrl-N (PC).
2 In the New Image dialog window set the width and height units to inches.
3 Set the Width to 16 inches and the height to 11 inches (Figure 3.1).
4 Set the Resolution to 200 pixels per inch.
