Going Away vs. Staying at Home

One year of room and board at a residential college currently costs between $7,000 and $15,000, depending on the school. This room and board amount, along with personal and transportation expenses over and above those expenses your child would incur living at home, is what you and your child will be paying for “the college experience.”
