Chapter 4. Information Architecture

As we consider the information requirements for an organization, there are some patterns that help classify, design, and document which information is needed, how it is used, and where it is located. Collectively, the results of this activity are called the information architecture. The information architecture is a living description of the information in use by the organization.

First, there is the INFORMATION ELEMENT group of patterns. They classify the life cycles of information in use by the organization and, consequentially, the approach that is appropriate to manage them.
