8.7 EXAMPLE: A THERMAL SYSTEM OF AUTOMOTIVE FUEL CELLS

This section is based on the work of Nolan and Kolodziej [35], and the example of a PEM fuel cell stack consists of 440 cells with an active area of 360 cm2. The net power output by the stack is approximately 120 kW. This system is based on that for General Motor’s (GM) Equinox FC vehicle. The PEM fuel cell stack is schematically shown in Figure 8-34, along with three main subsystems [35].
